New to Neverwinter/MMORPGs
You got to our guild/website and don't know much about Neverwinter or any other MMORPG, Let me tell you a few things about it:
Abbreviations : in most game in which you have to do a lot of stuff, people tend to use simple abbreviations with the initials of the places/classes/roles/items/dungeons/events etc ..
MMORPG= Massive Multiplayer Online Role Playing Game - A game with many people interacting that have characters that evolve, can equip items, have different powers/builds
DPS = Damage per second , also refers to the role of dealing damage
NPC = NON Player/Person Character - every character in game, predefined , that you can interact with, but it has a predefind response. It is programmed into the game, it gives you quests or information, or just chats with you when you interact with him.
..and many others that you will discover by searching the internet or asking about it in game!
Roles : In every RPG/MMORPG there will be several roles for a player in a party that does more difficult things in the game: DPS, TANK, SUPPORT(BUFFER or HEALER). You have to decide upon the role from the beginning because that will increase your performance in that role.
DPS = Damage dealer, bring the pain to the enemies, but usually low resistances, dies fast if targeted
TANK = High resistances, low damage (kills things slowly) , dies really hard, protects everyone else by keeping the mobs on him
HEALER = Character that restores the health of other players, mostly of the tank
BUFFER = any character that empowers the other classes (DPS, TANK, HEALER) , either increasing their damage or their resistances
Usually, in games, there are specific classes for each role. In Neverwinter TANKS: Guardian Fighter, Outbound Paladin, HEALERS: Outbound Pladins, Devoted Clerics, DPS: All the other classes , BUFFERS: mostly any class . It is good to have a goal in mind when you create your character and go all in on that goal!
So, have that in mind when you choose your character and class. Also depending on the class you have to roll different stats.
LAter on build mostly what stats you need to do the best job at the role that you chose! In dungeons it is crucial that everybody does his role in order for all to complete it! The role of a TANK or a HEALER in most cases it is more important than of a DPS.
